In case you missed it last week:

The N2N Crew wants to let you know about an exciting new development.

From now on, rather than have First Friday Sales (50% off store wide on the first Friday of each month) we're going to make ultra-discount shopping much easier and convenient for you!

We're going to DOUBLE, even TRIPLE our number of half price shopping days! Some will be on week days; some will be on weekends...

Just go to our Facebook page and click 'like." You'll automatically receive our half price announcements!

The rules for these half-price shopping days are the same as First Friday- 50% off the original price of everything in the shop. You can pay with cash, credit/debit or check. You may use your store credit but the discount won't apply.

My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.

My column, "12 million reasons to spay, neuter" ran on Friday, June 8th.

Arthur's column, "Free apps are fine, but some are worth paying for" was published June 9th. Click here to read it.

Movie Night!

One of my favorite summer activities is the Arts Council's Movies on the Green at the Arts Depot in downtown Gainesville.

Movies begin at dusk on a 35 foot inflatable screen. The gates open at 7:30 pm so that you and your family can enjoy a host of fun activities before the movie including face painting, magicians, art stations and a jump house. There are also food vendors selling everything from hot dogs and pizza to popcorn and ice cream.

Bring your quilts, lawn chairs, picnics and frisbees out to enjoy an evening under the stars.

This summer's movies include "Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked", "16-Love"starring Gainesville's own Chandler Massey and "The Lorax."

If you love documentaries, here's one for your favorites list- free, full length streaming documentaries on every imaginable topic! Click here to start watching.

22 Unique Uses for the Dishwasher

There are many unconventional items that can be cleaned in the dishwasher and there are some unique uses for the dishwasher itself. While I advise against washing your shoes with your forks (purely because of the grossness factor), there’s nothing wrong with using your washer to clean pesky household objects. Whatcha Eatin'?

Evelyn Asher sent us this recipe for roasted chickpeas (garbanzo beans.) It is simple and results in a crunchy snack that will remind you of nuts.

Except, these aren't nuts - they are beans! They are filling, healthy and inexpensive. Just like roasting vegetables, you simply add some olive oil, flavors, and cook at a high temperature.

Click here to give it a try. Thanks, Evelyn!

Feeling hungry?

I'm coming up on my first anniversary with Weight Watchers. I'm down 40 pounds and feeling great. One great resource I've enjoyed is the Hungry Girl site. She sends out a daily newsletter with product reviews and skinny-ed down recipes that give WW points. She also has a show on the Food Network and has published some great cookbooks.
If you don't know Hungry Girl, click here and get acquainted. You'll be glad you did.
