What's on Sale?

Let's do the Wild Card Sale this week...you remember how it works: we have cards labeled with different 30% off departments- ladies' tops, infantwear, dresses, menswear...you get the idea. One card even wins you 30% off of your entire purchase.

New Columns!

My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.

His latest was published on June 12. Click
here to read Arthur's tutorial on taking better digital pictures.

My June 11th column is about a young woman's life turned upside down by bureaucracy. Click here to see it.

Also, here's a link to my 2009 Father's Day column. Happy Father's Day to all you great dads out there!

Now Showing

The Arts Council's Movies on the Green will present "Alvin and the Chipmunks- the Squeakquel" at dusk on July 1 at the Smithgall Arts Center (the Depot), 331 Spring St. Admission is free for AC members, or $2 adults and $1 students for nonmembers. Click here to purchase tickets online.

Looking for Love

Here's this week's spotlight on a couple of the adorable pets available at the Hall County Animal Shelter on Barber Road. Between 5,000 and 6,000 animals have arrived at the shelter so far this year. Kitten season is in full session, so these numbers will skyrocket during June.

This little lady is a good example of the hundreds being born this year. Click here to learn more about this sweet kitty.

There are plenty of dogs available for adoption, too. Click here to find out about this handsome guy.

Please, please, please...before you buy from a breeder or pet shop, consider the alternative of a shelter. As Betty Burden, a shelter pet's best friend, reminds us, "Until there are none, adopt one! "

Bring in your adoption form from any area shelter (within one week of the adoption) and get a $10.00 N2N store credit...just our way thanking you for saving a life!

And don't forget, Friday (June 25) is Take Your Dog To Work Day. It's also Take Your Dog To N2N Day...stop by on Friday with your pooch and take 20% off your cash purchase!

Council of Dads

When author Bruce Feiler was diagnosed with cancer, he reached out to six friends, forming the Council of Dads to be present in the lives of his twin daughters in case he was no longer there. He then asked each friend for one piece of advice he would convey to the girls. Click here to read those inspiring life lessons.

Grilled Corn Dip

What a delicious change from French Onion Dip!

• 6 medium ears sweet corn, husks removed
• 1 large onion, chopped
• 1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 cup mayonnaise
• 1/2 cup sour cream
• 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
• 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
• 1 can (2-1/4 ounces) sliced ripe olives, drained
• 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
• Tortilla chips

Directions
1. Grill corn, covered, over medium heat for 10-12 minutes or until tender, turning occasionally.

2. Cut corn from cobs. In a large skillet, saute the onion and jalapeno in butter for 2-3 minutes or until almost tender. Add corn and garlic; saute 1-2 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender. Remove from the heat.

3. In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream and chili powder. Stir in cheese and corn mixture. Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish.

4. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Sprinkle with olives and green onions; serve with chips. Yield: 5 cups.

Note: When cutting hot peppers, disposable gloves are recommended. Avoid touching your face.

Wise Words

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."
--Dr. Seuss

Next to New is now on Facebook! Click here to go to our fan page and join up. We'll be posting great deals when we find them during the week and linking to other great frugal sites. We'll have the Deal of the Day and any other Hot Flashes that come our way.

Remember to bring in your plastic grocery bags to recycle and register to win a $25.00 store credit. May's winner was Cindy Furlow. Congratulations, Cindy!

Get a $5.00 store credit any time you bring us a new shopper. It's easy. Just bring in your friends who've never tried N2N shopping. When they check out at the register, we'll give YOU a $5.00 credit on the spot.

Let's work to get the word out: friends don't let friends shop retail!

...and don't forget Senior Discount Day- each Monday, everyone 55 and over gets 30% off their cash purchases.

N2N has resumed cash buying! Here's how it works: for cash, we're purchasing only name brand, mall brand and better fashions. We're only taking in-season pieces (spring/summer). They must be in perfect condition and have been purchased new less than 3 years ago.

Just give me a call at the shop (770-534-9070) or on my cell (770-539-1911) I'll need to set up an appointment since I'm currently the only one who is doing the cash buying. I'm giving preference to areas of the shop that have the quickest turn-over in inventory- plus sizes, maternity, men's casual wear, shoes and toddler sizes.

Of course, we're still continuing the store credit buying and the amount we pay is about 30% more than the cash.

Cash or store credit- either way, we all win!

Computer Problems?

That's it for now. Remember-email goes both ways...

If you run across any exceptional bargains or impressive new products, let us know. We'll put the word out!
Have a remarkable week!
