Latest Columns!
My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month
columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and
technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my
fancy.
My latest column was published on July
27th. Click here to
read "Shelter's 'lucky dogs' were anything but"
Arthur's column has been on hiatus for a
few weeks. But you can click here to go to his blog and
read past columns and even search for specific topics if you need help
troubleshooting a problem.
His column will resume in The Times in
August 11th.
In case you were wondering...
One of my favorite cleaning products is
the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It works minor miracles on dingy stair rails and
painted doors, makes sinks and stoves sparkle...but, I had to wonder, how? What
was it made of? How does it work? I bet you've wondered, too. Well, wonder no
more. Click here
for the answer.
Showtime!
You'll want to catch the last Movie on the
Green of the season! There will be an outdoor screening of "The Lorax," on
August 24th at the Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center
Lawn, 331 Spring St. in Gainesville. Gates open at 7:30 p.m., film at dusk.
Admission is $5 adults (non members), $3 for members and students. For more
information, call 770-534-2787 or click on www.theartscouncil.net. Be sure to bring a blanket or
lawn chair.

Whatcha
eatin'?
With peaches at their peak, we just had
to post a peach recipe. This is an interesting fusion of peach cobbler and bread
pudding-
a nice switch from the
usual.
Baked Peach Pudding
Ingredients:
2 cups milk2 cups breadcrumbs
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 medium eggs, beaten
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch salt
3 cups thinly sliced fresh peaches (about 1 to 2 pounds)
Ice cream, for serving
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a casserole dish.2. Place milk in a small pot over medium heat; bring to a gentle boil and remove from heat. Place breadcrumbs in a large bowl; add hot milk to bowl. Add butter and beat with an electric mixer until well combined.
3. Add sugar, eggs, and cinnamon; beat well. Fold peaches into mixture.
4. Transfer mixture to prepared casserole pan; bake 60 minutes, remove, and cool 15 minutes.
5. Serve with ice cream.
