Family TIES ("Teaching, informing, empowering and supporting today's families") is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families provide a safe, nurturing and positive environment for their children and teenagers. Their programs seek to educate prenatal parents and parents with children up to age 18. They serve families who are wishing to improve their parenting skills as well as families who are incarcerated or mandated by DFCS or the court system.
Family TIES also offers programs for teenagers whose parents are enrolled in their Empower Parents class, and for middle school students in the YMCA after school program. These classes are aimed at helping teens deal with issues of bullying, drugs, self esteem, anger management, and character building.
The annual "Diamonds and Denim" fundraiser is a fun, casual evening with a dinner buffet, live band and live and silent auctions (amazing sports and entertainment memorabilia, getaway trips, gift baskets and more!)
This year's date is November 13 at Grove Street Station featuring music by Moby Dick and food catered by Johnny's BBQ.
Tickets are $50.00 each and include dinner, a beer/wine bar, music and lots of fun. You can purchase your tickets from Teressa at N2N.
ALSO- be sure to get in on the 50/50 raffle! Purchase your raffle tickets for $5.00 each. Last week we got the good news- beginning in July 2011, Molly will be the Director of Education at Temple Emanuel in Winston-Salem, NC.That puts her two hours closer to home which makes her parents and sister VERY happy!
Congratulations, Molly!
