My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.
Arthur's latest was published on May 28. Click here to read "High tech devices bring the future to the present." It's a keeper!
My latest column was published May 27. Click here to read "Proud to be old-school on manners."

Showtime!
Nothing says summer like outdoor movies. It looks as thought the ones at the Arts Depot here in Gainesville have been discontinued but there are other venues nearby.
Try Summer Movies Under The Stars in Dahlonega. On June 10 at dusk they'll be showing "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules." It's at Hancock Park and admission is free.
There's also the Summer Movie Series in Cornelia. It starts at dusk. "The Goonies" will be playing on June 17 and "The Last Airbender" on July 15. It's at City Park in Cornelia and it's free.
Flash Mobs
I love flash mobs...first the frozen people in Grand Central Station, then the T-Mobile ads in London and the Hanukkah flash mob in Jerusalem. Here's one from St. Patrick's Day in Sidney, Australia's Central Station.
So is Gainesville ready for a flash mob? Maybe clogging in Roosevelt Square?

This week, through Wednesday, Publix has frozen pierogies, those yummy little potato and cheese dumplings, on sale- buy one, get one free. Here's a great adaptation of a family favorite, using a surprising new ingredient.
EGGPLANT PARMESAN CASSEROLE
Servings: 6
Cooking time: 30 minutes
1 medium eggplant
2 large eggs
1/2 cup seasoned Italian bread crumbs
4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 (24-ounce) jar tomato-basil marinara sauce
1 (16-ounce) box Mrs. T’s potato and cheddar pierogies
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Cut eggplant into 1/2-inch-thick slices. Beat eggs in bowl. Place bread crumbs in bowl. Dip eggplant slices in eggs to coat; dip into bread crumbs to coat well on both sides.
Cook eggplant slices in 1 tablespoon olive oil in 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until lightly browned on both sides. Repeat with remaining eggplant slices and olive oil.
Grease 2 1/2-quart baking dish. Spoon 1/3 of marinara sauce on bottom of dish. Arrange half of frozen pierogies on sauce. Top with half of eggplant slices, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and half of remaining sauce. Repeat with remaining ingredients, ending with sauce and mozzarella cheese. Bake 30 minutes or until mixture is hot and bubbly.

Arthur says he realizes that more and more computer users need help not just with viruses and malware, but with using their computers.
Getting a basic education in PC use is paramount in operating one. It's like getting into the driver's seat of a car, not knowing how to drive.
His upcoming column will deal with this issue. In the meantime, Arthur is available not just for your computer repairs, but to assist you in learning about your PC. He can teach you, one on one, what you need to know. Whether it is using Microsoft Word or learning how to cut and paste in Windows, Arthur can help you.
Make a list of the things you need clarified and give him a call. He will also do a seminar for a group. Call a few friends and split the cost. His personalized assistance is affordable and he will make sure you understand what you need to. There are no questions too small and no answers too big.
Call Arthur at 770-540-5100 or email him at arthur@glazerthepctech.com if you need to set up an appointment. He guarantees his work, has rapid response times and reasonable rates.
You've read his columns in the Times, now let him go to work for you.
That's it for now. Remember-email goes both ways...
If you run across any exceptional bargains or impressive new products, let us know. We'll put the word out!
