The thrill of shopping without the guilt!
Monday- July 20, 2009
A weekly publication of Next to New Resale Boutique

Morning, everybody!

Say it ain't so! Can you believe school starts back in less than THREE WEEKS?!? Since there will be over a month of warm weather after the term starts, we have lots of light weight items for the beginning of school but we're also putting out fall fashions (for both kids and adults) so you'll be ready when that first nip of autumn air arrives.

Look for red tagged fall items and lots of mark-downs on the summery ones.

What's on sale?

Monday-Tuesday: 30% OFF Ladies' Dresses and Sets
Wednesday-Thursday: 30% OFF All Shoes
Friday-Saturday-Sunday: 30% OFF Infantwear 0-24 months

Posh Plus!

Just in- an ENORMOUS rack of brand new plus size fashions (0X-4X) from We Be Bop and Key Lime Pie.

There are tops, jackets, capris, skirts... ALL priced at $6.99 each!

We've gotten in lots of resale plus sizes, too, so come soon for the best selection.

There's CA$H in your closet!

Each week, we'll be doing cash buying for one area in the shop that really needs inventory. For the second week, it's men's JEANS.

Here's how it works... bring your men's jeans that are in great condition. We'll buy them for cash. You can bring in other clothing and accessories as well- we'll buy them for credit as usual. Please pack your jeans separately and let us know that you have cash items when you come in. Buying hours are the same: Monday thru Thursday 10AM to 4PM and other times by prior arrangement.

We'll be buying jeans for cash all week- through Thursday, July 23rd. Check next week's newsletter to see what the next buy-for-cash department will be.

New columns

My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Gainesville Times.

His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.

His latest was published on July 18th. Click here to read Arthur's piece on networking.

My June 26th column is about some folks selling a bundle of three sticks as dog toys- and making a tidy profit from it, too . Click here to read.

Thanks to everyone who came to our Splenda House Party last Saturday afternoon. There were samples and freebies and special goodies for everyone.

The invitation went out via Hot Flash email, so if you'd like to hear about future get- togethers, just email me (

There are several goodie bags left. They contain a Splenda cookbook, mixing spoon, samples of different Splenda products, a piece of Haitian tin art and even some cookies and muffins. If you'd like to get one, just swing by N2N today.
First four hands in the air win.

Fancy Fast Food

This from TIME: If you thought fast food had to be lowbrow, think again. Not when you can enjoy tapas from White Castle, sushi from Popeye's or quiche from Burger King. Of course, chains don't actually serve those delicacies, but a new website offers the next best thing: teaching budget foodies how to take standard drive-thru fare and slice, strip, mix and otherwise recreate it to look gourmet.

Fancy Fast Food offers meticulously detailed, elegantly photographed recipes that can transform, say, a Big Mac Extra Value Meal into "McSteak & Potatoes" (the "potatoes" being the hamburger bun and french fries pureed in a food processor.) The large Coke, of course, gets served in a wine glass.

Read It Forward!

Take advantage of the
Read it Forward program from Random House to request a free copy of one of three brand new books. Your choices:

Something Missing by Matthew Dicks

The Crying Tree by Naseem Rakha

Where the River Ends by Charles Martin

Spotlight on Carole

Our friend, Carole Scheel, lives in Franklin, N.C. She visits N2N when she comes to see her big, happy family here in Gainesville. She has spent her entire working life as an accountant, and a darn good one, at that. She's worked for big businesses and non-profits. Until now.

For the first time ever, she's unemployed and she doesn't like it one little bit. She's turning these lemons into lemonade by taking this opportunity to do what she always said she'd do "some day"- move to Gainesville. So if you know of any accounting or other related positions that are open in the area, please let Carole know. Her email is
catscheel@yahoo.com. Good luck, Carole!
