Computer Care
My husband, Arthur, writes the Computer Care column for the Times. He also runs Computer House Calls, repairing and optimizing computers, offering instruction and all that other techie stuff. He's one of the best.
Recently, we've barely seen him- he's been covered up with calls, mostly involving viruses, spyware and malware. This week, he took a break from writing his twice a month column so I thought this might be a good time to re-run one of his past columns...the one dealing with viruses and malware. Internet Safety
Straight Talk about Internet Safety Seminar is at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Lakeview Academy student center. Parents can learn how to set boundaries and put parental controls on iPods, cell phones, computers and gaming systems. For more information, call 770-531-2609.
Some Enchanted Evening
Gainesville Park and Rec's Daddy Daughter Dances are coming up soon. The dance for grades 7 and older is Feb. 9; for grades 4-6, Feb. 11 and for grades preK-3, Feb. 12.

Falconry Primer
This sounds SO cool: Learn about falconry with Buster Brown of the Georgia Falconry Association. 2-5 p.m. Feb. 7, Smithgall Woods Conservation Park, 61 Tsalaki Trail, Helen. Preregistration is required. Fee is $20 for adults; kids are free. There is a $5 parking fee. For more information, call 706-878-3087. Pat and Ron, this looks like something your Scouts would enjoy!
Crescent Layer Bars
INGREDIENTS
| 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls | |
| 1 cup white vanilla baking chips | |
| 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips | |
| 1 cup slivered almonds | |
| 1 cup cashew halves and pieces | |
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated) |
DIRECTIONS
| Heat oven to 375°F (350°F for dark pans). Grease bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan. | |
If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough into 2 long rectangles. If using dough sheet: Unroll dough. Place in pan; press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust. Bake 5 minutes. | |
Remove partially baked crust from oven. Sprinkle vanilla chips, chocolate chips, almonds and cashews evenly over crust. Pour condensed milk evenly over top. | |
Return to oven; bake 20 to 25 minutes longer or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes. Run knife around sides of pan. Cool 1 hour. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. For bars, cut into 9 rows by 4 rows. Quick Stitchin' |
