N2N Family News

Eli LoCicero, Rob Brooksher, Rachel Glazer, Luke Tucker (front)

More good news from the debate front! North Hall High School's debate team had a great showing at Saturday's tournament at Sequoia High School in Canton. N2N's Rachel Glazer placed first in Dramatic Interpretation. Rachel and Eli LoCicero placed second in Duo Interpretation. Luke Tucker, in his first tournament ever, placed third in Humorous Interpretation. Rob Brooksher was awarded the third place speaker's trophy for student congress.

Even more impressive, these kids began their day at 5 a.m., traveling to Canton for the meet, competed all day and then returned to Gainesville in time to perform for a nearly full house in North Hall's production of "Almost, Maine." Way to go, Trojans!

Heartbreak Alert!

Looking for love online? That's where more and more people are turning to find companionship and, hopefully, love everlasting. Sometimes it works- that's where Arthur and I met 17 years ago. Other times you can meet slick operators who can woo you out of your money before you know what hit you. Click
here to go to www.romancescams.org. It has everything you need to know about online romance scams. And we all know knowledge is power!

National Food Bank Week

Since 1987, a week has been set aside to promote food banks across America. This year it's from October 11-17. Food banks are of vital importance to needy individuals...and right now there are more needy individuals than ever. N2N's Cheryl Hughes volunteers with the food bank at Oakwood United Methodist Church. We'd like to do something to help support her work there. So here's the deal: bring in a bag of non-perishable food items (three items or more) and receive 20% off your N2N cash purchase or get a coupon good for 20% off of a purchase later in the week (the coupons will expire on October 18th.) And how's this for easy? If you forget to bring anything, you can just step next door to Family Dollar Store and pick up some canned goods!

Give a Day. Get a Disney Day

Beginning January 1, 2010, when you sign up to volunteer a day of service with a participating organization (and your service is completed and verified) you'll get one day admission to a Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme park, free! Disney wants to inspire one million people to volunteer a day of service. Up to 8 people per household can participate. Click
here for details.

The Fix-It Club helps you discover the fun and the function of fixing things around your home -- from air conditioners to zippers! They offer ten good reasons to fix or recycle things that break. Then they give you over 175 fix-it guides with illustrated steps to guide you in troubleshooting and repairing or recycling anything around your home and household.
