The Coke Lady!

Many of you know about the Coke Lady (so named because of her employer.) She brings wonderful plus sizes and she's
coming back on Sunday (7-23) night!

She's bringing jackets, coats, dresses, 2 piece dress sets, pants, jeans, capris...you get the idea. Many are high end brands like Ralph Lauren and Talbots; many still have the tags on them. Sizes are 2X, 3X, 22 and 24.

We'll be hard at work on Monday morning getting them processed. Come early to get the best selection!

Latest Columns

My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.

Arthur's latest was published on July 9. Click here to read " It may be time to ditch your old programs."

He's taken a week off to help care for his mother in New York so there was no July 23rd column. He'll be back in the Times on August 6th.

My latest column was published July 22. Click here to read "Letting go, this time to Israel."

Field Trip!

If your child has ever read (and loved) "To Dance with the White Dog" , treat them to An Evening With Terry Kay at the Spout Springs Library in Flowery Branch. It's at 6 p.m.on Tuesday, July 26th. Georgia Writers Hall of Fame Inductee Terry Kay will be on hand to meet readers. Admission is free. For more details, call 770-531-3311, ext. 194.

Somewhere out there, there's one proud mama...

I'm not a big baseball fan but this recent incident caught my attention. A young fan at an Arizona Diamondbacks/ Milwaukee Brewers game did the unimaginable. He caught a ball...and then gave it to the heartbroken younger child who missed it. Click here to see the whole wonderful story unfold.

Prime Produce

Fresh fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet, but with prices rivaling that of chicken, the last thing you want to do is buy produce that proves to be inedible. After all, who wants mealy apples of tasteless melons? Click here to get advice from a produce manager on picking primo produce.

Dog vs. Pool

Here are a couple of videos that are too cute for words. The first one has Gus the bulldog discovering his new pool. Then, he decides to relocate it...click here for video 2.

Whatcha Eatin'?

Turtle Cookie Cups
1 pkg Betty Crocker double chocolate chunk cookie mix
3 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp water
1 egg
36 round milk chocolate-covered chewy caramels, unwrapped (I'm assuming they mean Rolos)
36 pecan halves
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place miniature paper baking cups in each of 36 mini muffin cups.
In large bowl stir cookie mix, oil, water and egg until soft dough forms.
Shape dough into 36 1-1/4 inch balls, place in muffin cups. If dough becomes sticky, dust hands with flour.
Bake 8 - 9 minutes or until edges are set. Immediately press one milk chocolate-covered caramel into center of each cookie cup.
Cool two minutes. Top with pecan halves. Cool completely. Remove from pan with narrow spatula.

Wise Words

Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.

From Arthur:

Arthur says that if you have an old computer- whether a desktop or laptop- and you have data on it that you'd like to have removed or copied, he can do that for you.

If you've recently changed computers or plan to soon, he can extract those photos and documents you may have thought were lost for good. Well, they are not lost and your computer may even be salvageable. Let him take a look at it. He can also replace a small or defective hard drive or add a second one if you've run out of storage space.

He reminds you that just as with your car, your computer requires periodic tune-ups, usually twice a year. He can clean the junk from your system, check it for viruses and malware and make it run faster. Even if you think yours is running fine, he can make it run faster. His rates are reasonable and he stands behind his work.

Call Computer House Calls at 770-540-5100 or email him at glazer.tech@gmail.com.

Your computer will thank you.

That's it for now. Remember-email goes both ways...

If you run across any exceptional bargains or impressive new products, let us know. We'll put the word out!

Have a remarkable week!
