Next to Newsletter- Monday, August 22, 2011

Good morning, everybody! Sorry this is late- Rachel celebrated her 17th birthday on Monday and Molly was home for the festivities so I took a couple of days off for family time. Thanks to Lisa for covering for me!
Here at N2N we're busy stocking the shop with fall and winter fashions. Now's the time to get Abercrombie & Fitch hoodies, Ann Taylor Loft sweaters, Hollister jeans, the list goes on and on. Shop early and often!

What's on sale?

Let's do the Wild Card Sale. Pick a card to find out where your 30% off discount is. It could be pants and shorts, shoes and bags, infant wear, dresses and sets, even storewide...who knows?

And we believe in do-overs. If you don't like your first card, feel free to draw again!

Columns

My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.

Arthur's latest was published on August 20. Click here to read " Beware of costly email scams."

My latest column was published August 19. Click here to read "Friday at 6 is when panic sets in."

Baked Potato Pizza

  • 1 (6.5 ounce) package pizza crust mix
  • 3 medium unpeeled potatoes, baked and cooled
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Prepare crust according to package directions. Press dough into a lightly greased 14-in. pizza pan; build up edges slightly. Bake at 400 degrees F for 5-6 minutes or until crust is firm and begins to brown.
  2. Cut potatoes into 1/2-in. cubes. In a bowl, combine butter, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Add potatoes and toss. Spread sour cream over crust; top with potato mixture, bacon, onions and cheeses. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.

Wise Words

"When I was 5 years old, my mother told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy". They told me I didn’t understand the assignment.
I told them they didn’t understand life."

~John Lennon
