Good Morning!

What's New?
There's a whole new 75% off sidewalk rack full of great name brands in all sizes- better hurry!

My husband, Arthur, and I each write twice-a-month columns for The Times here in Gainesville. His deal with computing and technology issues. Mine deal with whatever strikes my fancy.

Arthur's column ran on February 23rd. You can click here to read"Printer glitch? Best to start over "

My column, "Diagnosis followed by fear, now determination" about discovering Rachel had Type 1 diabetes ran on Feb. 22nd. Click here to read it.

Too Sweet for Type 1

Our daughter, Rachel, a freshman at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. In the weeks since her diagnosis, she's made a remarkable adjustment to insulin injections, blood sugar monitoring and a low-carbohydrate diet. We had to learn an awful lot about diabetes in a hurry. And Rachel got terribly sick before we realized what was wrong and sought help. We don't want that to happen to another family, so...

On Friday, March 1st, there will be a store wide half price sale at N2N.
But that's not all. We'll be holding a Diabetes Awareness Day and the Too Sweet for Type 1 Fundraiser. There will be extended hours (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) There will raffles and prizes, a bake sale, celebrity authors signing their books, goodie bags with diabetes information and lots of freebies...and more, much more.

Leading up to the fundraiser, we'll be selling raffle tickets- $1.00 each. We'll be drawing for prizes all day on March 1st and you don't have to be present to win. Please stop in and buy a hand full. It all goes to help Rachel.

We also have some pretty amazing items that have been donated- collectible Barbies (Flamingo, Couture, Evening Sophisticate- even two I Love Lucy Barbies!), a hand painted child's rocking chair, autographed photos of Chandler Massey (Will Horton on "Days Of Our Lives") and books signed by authors Lauretta Hannon ("The Cracker Queen") ,Rob Wood, Janice Raddatz, Donna de la Perriere and Molly Read Woo. Author Joseph Scott Morgan will be here signing "Blood Beneath My Feet." (Time TBA)There are vintage accessories, some pretty amazing framed needlepoints and more. They're available for a suggested donation that's far less than the actual retail come take a look!

There are gift certificates for yoga classes at Find Your center: Yoga with Emilie, an hour of computer repair or instruction from Glazer the PC Tech and more!
Would you like to donate something for the fundraiser? Just email Teressa at or call 770-534-2595.
If you struggle with diabetes or love someone who does, please make a special effort to stop in. You'll be an honored guest. We're all in this together.

Life Hacks

Life hacks are little ways to make our lives easier. These low-budget tips and tricks can help you organize and de-clutter space; prolong and preserve your products; or teach you something (e.g., tie a full Windsor) that you simply did not know before. Click here to see some of the best I've come across in a long time.

Owner's manual

I'm a long-time fan of Garrison Keillor's "The Writer's Almanac." Here's one of my favorite excerpts- "How to Be Perfect."

Wild Kingdom

I love nature photography. Especially animals photographed in the wild. Click here to see some of the best of the best animal photography ever.

Quick and Easy Monkey Bread

This is a very easy bread to make. You probably have the ingredients already sitting in your pantry. Why Monkey Bread? I have no earthly idea. It's also has been called Bubble Bread and Pull Apart Bread. By any name, it's delicious! Thanks to Jennie Clayton for the recipe.  Click here to get started.
