Is Pet Insurance Worth It?

All of us with pets have that nagging fear in the back of our minds. What would we do if our loyal companion had a catastrophic injury? No one wants to be faced with the choice of a $7000 vet bill or a $50 shot to put our pet to sleep. So what about pet insurance? Is it as good as the companies claim? Wise Bread's Paul Michael found out the hard here.

10 No-Cost Ways to Keep Cool

It's hard to fully escape the intense heat of summer. It creeps its way in every time you open the door and some of that cool air creeps on out. Then, you crank up the air conditioner, and your bill goes sky-high. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the typical U.S. family spends about $1,900 a year on home utility bills -- most of which is wasted. There are definitely some easy no-cost tips you can follow to stay cool for the rest of the summer and save a little money, too! Click here to check out the top ten tips.

Ramen Fever

Rasmussen College has an interesting link on it's website- a collection of recipes using that mainstay of all college students: ramen noodles. Now that's what I call practical information! Click here to check it out and forward it to all the college freshmen in your life.

What's for Dinner?

Linda Davis sent us this easy, delicious recipe. It's quickly becoming a dinnertime staple at our house. Thanks, Linda!

Stuffed Mexican Shells

1 lb ground beef
1 small diced onion
1 can diced green chilies
2 pkgs. cream cheese
1 can black beans (drained)
1 can corn (drained)
1 packet of Taco Seasoning
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 box of jumbo pasta shells

Cook pasta as directed on box. Brown meat with onions. In a bowl, mix together remaining ingredients. Add meat and onion mixture to bowl. Stuff each shell with
mixture. Place in casserole dish. Top with salsa and cheddar. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Add additional toppings (salsa, sour cream, black olives, cheddar cheese, etc.) as desired.

Linda adds: One day when I was in a rush I used two cans of Bush's Black Bean Fiesta instead of the chilies, black beans and corn that the recipe
recommended and it turned out just fine.
